Scentual Experience
Scent memory is one of the most powerful senses on the planet a simple whiff of something can transport you back to a moment in time and for a split second you are back to that place and time where this scent made a powerful impact in your life. The scent that does this for me is Hollister August.
August is an intoxicating blend woodsy undertones, citrus blends, and mixed floral bouquets. With one quick sniff I am instantly transported back to the fall of 2004. I was a 20 year old who was away at college; my first taste of freedom. It was a liberating experience to leave behind my old life and start over. People saw me as pretty, fun, creative, interesting, and funny all things I wanted to be portray in high school, but could quite figure out how to.
When I put on August I again feel a renewed sense of freedom and beauty something that gets lost in the way of disappointments life throws at you. I can see my dorm room and my friends apartment and the excitement I felt every single day, because everyday was new waiting to be lived to the fullest.
Unfortunately Hollister discontinued this incredible perfume and by some sort of perfume fate on a trip to Chicago in 2006 I found a basket full of Hollister August. I restrained myself and bought a bottle that to this day use sparingly when I want to feel a sense of freedom and beauty that year away gave me
